On June 18, 2024, my brother-in-law, a deputy sheriff, was transporting an inmate to another location. Along the way, he lost control of his cruiser, hit a culvert, and was in bad shape. He had an extremely compressed disc in his back. They did surgery on June 19. On that first night, we were up most of the night with his wife (my sister-in-law), who was with him during his initial hospital stay in Texarkana, Texas. We were with her until he was transported (by helicopter) to Little Rock, Arkansas, and didn't get home until around three in the morning.
He was in extreme pain before and after the surgery on his back. He was later transferred to a facility where he could get some therapy. For some reason not known to us, he is hallucinating. He was released from the facility where he was undergoing therapy on July 10, and he has to continue therapy at a location closer to his home. We hope that he continues to improve and that he doesn't continue to hallucinate.
