Papyrus Containing the Spell to Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is in the Water
From the channel of Lorane Vailfor. The channel seems to be inactive, but she has quite a few good covers posted up.
"Hi!
Today I'm playing for you my favorite song from Nile's album Ithyphallic - Papyrus Containing the Spell to Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks from He Who is in the Water.
A fantastic and haunting song from a band I recently discovered. They say this is a different kind of metal. It's different from anything I've ever heard.
I lost track of this video for a long time and only recently discovered it again. I will not lose it again. This video mixes Fantasia's (1940) "Night on Bald Mountain" (Disney) with a brutal technical death metal performance by Nile. The Nile song is entitled "The Opening of the Mouth." "The Opening of the Mouth ceremony was a crucial ancient Egyptian ritual aimed at restoring the senses of the deceased, enabling them to function in the afterlife." Source: Ancient Egypt Online.
We lost Hulk Hogan, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Ozzy in a matter of days. Here is a portion of Ozzy's memorial service.
"Ozzy Osbourne's funeral procession and ceremony took place today in his hometown of Birmingham, with his beloved family covering the costs for the event and related expenses.
His wife, Sharon, along with his children Kelly, Jack and Aimee stopped during the procession, before moving on to the private funeral later in the day."
"Learning to Fly" is my favorite song. Not just my favorite song by Pink Floyd, but my favorite song, period.
"The inspiration for the lyrics came about as [David] Gilmour was learning to fly aeroplanes [sic] at the time of the recording..."
The song has also been interpreted metaphorically as the act of "trying something new." The official video depicts a Native man leaping from a ledge or cliff and rising up as a hawk.
"The lyrics describe Gilmour's thoughts on flying, for which he has a passion (being a licensed pilot with multiple ratings), [citation needed] though it has also been interpreted as a metaphor for beginning something new, experiencing a radical change in life, or, more specifically, Gilmour's feelings about striking out as the new leader of Pink Floyd after the departure of Roger Waters.
The track was regularly performed live on the band's two post-Roger Waters tours, with touring guitarist Tim Renwick playing the song's guitar solos (although David Gilmour played the solos on the studio version of the track)." Source: Wikipedia
Lyrics:
Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a wind swept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to find my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I
Friction lock, set
Mixtures, rich
Propellers, fully forward
Flaps, set - 10 degrees
Engine gauges and suction, check
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer
My grubby halo, a vapor trail in the empty air
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Can't keep my mind from the circling sky
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I

As I understand it, this song was written by Dave Mustaine, the lead guitarist and vocalist of the group Megadeth. After he became a Christian, he wouldn't perform the song for many years. It contains instructions for black magic, which Mustaine performed earlier in his life. The Conjuring is often cited as being one of the best thrash metal songs.
You're welcome to our sanguinary sect of worship Feel at home in our black conventicle As we anathematize all those who oppose us Don't summon the devil Don't call the priest If you need the strength The conjuring Obey Behold, the flames rise From the compass' cardinal points Burn their sacred oil And with the ashes you'll anoint Arrange the symbols of the wizard and magician Light the candles, place the parchment paper in position Between its leaves place the lash from a black cat's eye A straw of a broom, fold and burn and centralize Don't summon the devil Don't call the priests If you need the strength Then conjure me I am the Devil's advocate A salesman, if you will You know my name You know my name I met your father years ago I gave him what he'd please He called my name And you'll do the same I'm claiming what is mine by right It's time to close the deal You're bought and sold Bought and sold Come join me in my infernal depths Mephisto's hall of fame I've got your soul I've got your soul The conjuring Obey
Anni-Frid Lyngstad's (known as Frida) hit song from the 1982 album Something's Going On. Frida was a founder and lead singer of the group ABBA. Phil Collins does a great job with backing vocals.
Flavor Flav is commonly known as Public Enemy's hype-man, but he's also a skilled rapper. He's capable of much more than just saying "Yeah boy!" Cold Lampin’ with Flavor is not exactly a "diss track," but it is an answer to a diss issued by Mr. Magic against the Public Enemy group.
In December 2017, Twitter user "@WeezerAfrica," run by 14-year-old Cleveland, Ohio resident Mary Klym, tweeted, "@RiversCuomo it's about time you bless the rains down in Africa." The band released a cover of "Rosanna," a different Toto song (also from the album Toto IV), in order to troll Klym and those clamoring for a version of "Africa". Weezer released "Africa" on May 29, 2018. It was the band's first Hot 100 hit since 2009. The song reached number 51 on the Hot 100 and peaked at number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in August 2018, becoming the band's first number-one single since 2008. Source: Wikipedia
This was a very popular song, and I don't think they ever reproduced its success.
"The British group perform their wildly successful number on USTV. The odd site of political statements painted on their shirts must have confused some of the mainstream viewers of this mainstream chat show, who are normally given a steady diet of well-dressed celebrities parading before their eyes..." I heard this song tonight, believe it or not, for the first time. Also, I heard it at Walmart. They were playing it when we entered into the store. This song has been covered many times, including by System Of A Down. I prefer Berlin's version.
"[The Metro] is a New Wave song written by John Crawford for his band, Berlin. The song has been covered by a number of artists, including System of a Down, Alkaline Trio, John Frusciante, Hannah Fury and Idle Warship."
The song is called a "nonsense doo wop song." The dancers bring a smile to my face and make me laugh too. It made 48 on the charts and inspired "The Bird's The Word" by The Trashmen. More info can be found here.
The song Magic Carpet Ride was being played in the Phoenix as Dr. Zephram Cochran was preparing to test warp drive. As Trek fans know, the warp signature was detected by the Vulcans. They then made their first contact with humans.
