He continued, "Since you are a fool, ignorant, and not resisting, I shall tell you what your superiors may - or may not - know about me. If you remain compliant, I may allow you to stay alive. If you behave foolishly, I will probably just kill you. Whatever the case, you cannot free yourself."
"What is your name?" the man asked me. "Kelsoe," I said. "Thomas Kelsoe."
"Well, agent Kelsoe, I am Marshall Sir Boris Ammit, lately of Berlin. I am indeed engaged in spying for the Germans. Boris Ammit is not my real name, of course, but I have far outlived my birth name. I will not reveal it because you could not pronounce it."
"Thomas Kelso, do you have a family? A family that you would like to be reunited with after this troublesome war?"
"Wife and two daughters," I responded.
"Excellent. Now listen to me."
