Octavia's Error, Part 1

Octavia's Error
"Female Ghoul In Disguise"

I rushed toward Octavia, fully intending to bury my gladius into her neck. She quickly stood to the side and laughed at my attempt. She then smiled, and she shook her finger at me.

"Young woman, I was alive even before such a blade was used by the Romans. I was alive to see both men and women consult the Sibyl when the daughters of Hecate were the acolytes of what is now a long-defunct theology. I was already old when they prophesied, and then they fell. None exist today."

"I was alive when Nineveh fell. I saw its bloodstained gates, and I walked the streets when the great city was overthrown. It now exists as a ruin, but it was a mighty city in its day."

"The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World? I saw all of them. For a time, I even slept in what you call the Great Pyramid of Giza."

"Pharaohs I have seen. The dark Medieval times I have seen. I brought terror to both the Allies and the Axis. As they killed one another, I slew them also, feeding upon the lifeblood that coursed through their mortal veins."

"What then, my child, do you reckon that you can do to me? I am invulnerable, save for the heart. My wounds heal quickly. My wrath is provoked even more quickly. Tell me, girl, what will you do? And what is your name? What would you say before I inflict upon you the kiss of eternal death?"
