Saturday's Log 8.24.2024

The time in Texas is 3:18 A.M. and I just got home from the 24-hour clinic that is owned by a hospital. Around 11 P.M. the pain in my back became unbearable. At times I couldn't move. It was definitely an emergency; I had to see a doctor.

I had blood work, a urine test, and a CT scan. I also got a shot of morphine which, to my surprise, didn't completely relieve the pain. It helped. Now I have a headache - I think it's from the morphine. I was prescribed high-powered ibuprofen and some kind of muscle relaxer; I can't remember the name. I'll have to go to the pharmacy tomorrow to pick it up.

As my wife and others had already surmised, I was diagnosed with sciatica. I was already relying on a walking cane from having a stroke a number of years ago. Now I really have to use it. I've read that sciatica can go away on its own. I hope it does.
