| Gnomes - Author's Picture |
It's September already, and it's been a little cooler, though by no means cold. Here, cooler means 90 degrees. I never complain about the heat of the summer. I prefer it over the fall and winter. Today is the last day of the Labor Day weekend.
If you can't tell, my wife loves gnomes. She's got it on her mind to make a rock garden and decorate it with gnomes. It sounds like a neat idea. All the gnomes are facing the front porch, so every time you go outside it looks like they've gathered together to stare at you.
Last night I had a strange dream about my time in the military. I dreamed that my wife was coming to join me on the post. I was about to reenlist. I was concerned about going to Korea and having to leave her behind. During my final week or two (before getting out), I got orders to go to Korea. I don't think I would have liked the duty.
I know I dreamed all night long. I rarely remember the dreams I have. The military dream does not reflect actual events. I served three years and got out immediately. My wife was about 17, I think, and we never lived together on the base.
I guess I'm preparing chicken enchiladas for dinner tonight. Last week I made hot links, steak, cabbage, steamed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. The steak was especially tender. Note: I ended up making two meals. I made the enchiladas and then grilled hot links, steamed potatoes, and sweet corn. My daughter loves grilled hot links.
I took another walk down the lane of nostalgia at Wal-Mart. I saw my aunt and cousin for the first time in ages. Then I bought a Darth Vader action figure. It's not the same one I had when I was little. That one had a red lightsaber you could push into the arm to deactivate. Or you could pull it down to activate it. I remember having so much fun with the original figure - my brother and I played with them almost every day, for hours. Nowadays I don't play, of course. The playing is in the act of collecting. I'll never actually display a model without the packaging. The only way I will do so is if the model comes without the packaging, and, going forward, I'll try my best not to buy anything without the package.
I need to wash some dishes and start getting my items ready for dinner tonight. I think I'll clean the top of the oven, but first I'm going to take half of a Tylenol #3. Note: I didn't clean the oven, but I did wash clothes, and I won't be able to finish them until tomorrow. I also found the energy to wash the car. It needs washing about once per week; it's so dusty outside. Since then, my back has started to bother me. I took a muscle relaxer and half of a Tylenol #3. I think it gave me a bit of a headache. I was afraid it would.
I didn't do too much to the blog yesterday, but I updated the Star Trek page. I have a few more Star Trek models to post. I have many Star Wars items to post.
Note: The post was written on Monday, but I had a headache and didn't post it until Tuesday.
