| Tyler's Dad |
The figure was tall and blacker than black. It stood in the middle of the room and seemed to be looking at Colin. Then, suddenly, it was illuminated by a brief flash of bluish light. It appeared to be a man; he was not old, but he was older than Colin. The figure then went black once again and seemed to fade away, straight down into the floor. Colin spent the rest of the night backed up against the bed's headboard, terrified, with the covers pulled up to his neck.
The next morning, as breakfast was being served, Pam (Tyler's mom) noticed that Colin was much less animated than he usually was. In fact, she thought he looked sick. She inquired as to whether he felt well and also asked if he had a good night.
Colin confessed that he had experienced a frightening night, and he told Pam and Tyler the details. Pam turned pale. Tyler looked shaken.
"I'm sorry this happened to you," said Pam. "The bedroom you were in last night was my late husband's home office and game room. He did most of our household business on his desktop computer and displayed many things he had collected over the years."
With a trembling voice and a solemn look, she continued. "Tyler's dad loved to collect model ships and old toys. Once, before we turned his office into a spare bedroom, I thought I saw him sitting at his desk. Maybe that's why he was in your room last night. At any rate, I believe every word of your story, because Tyler's dad visited me last night as well."
