| Saint Nick |
I had to see my VA doctor today. So-so news, I suppose. I try to keep my focus at time of year on Christmas, the folklore, and the hidden gift: Christ Himself. Enjoy the following interesting facts about the real Santa Claus.
- According to tradition, Saint Nicholas lived about 15 March 270 – 6 December 343.
- He was Bishop of Myra (modern day Turkey) in the fourth century.
- He was known as Nicholas the Wonderworker because of numerous miracles attributed to his intercession.
- He had a habit of secretly bestowing gifts; these activities eventually led to the folklore of Santa Claus.
- He gave gifts of gold to three girls who faced the unpleasant prospect of being forced into prostitution, thereby rescuing them from that fate.
