| Zuckuss - Author's Collection |
I purchased a Star Wars retro two-pack, and Zuckuss was one of the figures I received. I remember having this action figure when I was a boy. I can't remember if I owned it, or my brother did. I'm almost positive that I owned it. If I recall correctly, the figure's arms and legs loosened way up so that it couldn't stand up correctly and couldn't extend its laser weapon.
At the time, the package said the figure's name was "Zuckuss," and that's what we called him. I didn't know until years later that Kenner (the toy company) had mislabeled the package. The "Zuckuss" shown here in my picture was actually (canon) named 4-LOM. So, after all that time, I've had to relearn his name. He's 4-LOM. The package in the picture has the wrong name on it - by design. The original mistake was reproduced on purpose. The real Zuckuss will be shown in a later update.
4-LOM was a bounty hunter who had been a protocol droid. He overrode his programming and set out to become a bounty hunter. He was partners with Zuckuss, and the real Zuckuss' package was sold as "4-LOM." Confusing. Zuckuss, or 4-LOM, was one of the bounty hunters summoned by Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back.
At some time during the summer days when my brother and I would play outside with our Star Wars action figures, I became enamored with this former protocol droid. He was one of my favorites, second only to IG-88, and I started pretending he was the ruler over his own faction of action figures. I started calling him, "Lord Zuckuss." I even found a piece of my mom's sewing fabric and created a robe for him. I think I tied it around his waist with a piece of thread.
I won't be making a robe for my new "Lord" Zuckuss. He will never leave the package. I notice that the figure's left hand is shaped like a normal hand. The hand on the right side is shaped to hold the character's blaster rifle. If my internet research is correct, the weapon in the photo is a DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle.
