Captain's Log, February 25-26

I had to go to Medical City Plano on the 25th. We left at 1:40 p.m. and arrived around 4:30. We had to wait until after 5 for the consultation; I may speak more on that later.

I found out something new. When we got closer to the city, SIRI (I use SIRI to navigate populated areas) said, "Speed check ahead." And, almost instantly, we saw that police had a driver pulled over. Does SIRI give warnings about speed traps? It seems like it.

People in the city drive like they're crazy (and me too; I almost caused a traffic accident because I'm a hillbilly and can't drive in heavy traffic). I saw more traffic stops yesterday than I've seen this year. Fortunately, we have a few days of respite before we have to do it again.

We got home about 10:30 p.m. on the 25th, which was when this post was started. I was just too tired to finish it. As difficult as the drive was, it was worse on the way home at night. It's getting to where I can't drive at night and barely can drive during the day. I can't drive unaccompanied at any time.

On the bright side, we did get a good but overpriced meal at Denny's. We had so much food that we couldn't finish it. We got takeout boxes and brought it home for the dog.

We tried to go to Popeye's chicken place for some fried chicken. I've been wanting some, craving it. When we finally found the place, only the drive-through was open.

While we were driving, looking for Popeye's, some guy started walking across the road in front of us. When we got close, he ran toward the car like he was trying to get us to hit him. I'm not sure if that's the case, or if he was trying to get himself injured so he could go to the hospital and get meds - or if he wanted to be arrested so he could have a place to sleep for the night. I could understand the latter if it was cold last night, but it was in the 70s. I don't know what was going on. I swerved and missed him, so we didn't have any drama with the kook. We noticed lots of weirdos walking the streets after it got dark.
