As I understand it, this song was written by Dave Mustaine, the lead guitarist and vocalist of the group Megadeth. After he became a Christian, he wouldn't perform the song for many years. It contains instructions for black magic, which Mustaine performed earlier in his life. The Conjuring is often cited as being one of the best thrash metal songs.
