The Outbreak, Part 4

The Outbreak
The Outbreak

Our personnel entered the funeral home and made their way to the embalming room. Once there, they forced the door open (it had been locked). Without going into graphic detail, suffice it to say that the "zombies" were quickly dispatched.

The Dobbs City Funeral Parlor's operations, by order of the government, ceased to exist after the outbreak. It closed its location and moved into a newly built structure on the north side of town. It operates from that location to this very day. In the rainy fall of 1970, the Dobbs City Fire Department disposed of the old funeral home during a controlled burn.

There have been no more sightings or encounters with the undead. The bodies of Amy Lynn Watson, Marvin Weston, Michael Gatlin, John Fuller, and Abigail Higgins were observed for a short period of time. The body of Watson, the original zombie, was subjected to intense scrutiny and study for a longer amount of time. All of the bodies were eventually cremated.

After the cremations, the subjects were placed in urns and were laid to rest in a vault located at the Dobbs City Cemetery (formerly known as the Resurrection Cemetery). The families of the victims (but not Amy Watson) were told that their loved ones were killed during a violent robbery. They also received a substantial amount of money.

Gatlin's formula has never been reproduced, nor has any attempt been made to reproduce it. The case is solved to the best of our knowledge, and it has not been assigned a case number. This was the first incursion in North Texas. There was a second that involved only one "zombie." It was dispatched by Dr. Robertson. Both events are, now, and thankfully, just interesting footnotes in the county's history.
