Esmeralda, Part 2

Esmeralda
Esmeralda

Emily's closet was quite large. It was a walk-in closet. Samantha was a bit unnerved, but finally decided that Esmeralda was an imaginary friend. This belief continued until one day, when Samantha noticed that Emily's chocolate chip cookies were being consumed faster than what was to be expected.

When questioned, Emily simply told her mom that Esmeralda loved chocolate chip cookies. They were consumed at such a fast rate, the girl said, because her friend loved them. This bothered Samantha greatly. Emily wasn't known for lying. Something was up.

After some time had passed, Samantha decided to do some research on the house that she was renting. It was a two-story Victorian home. While it wasn't the best house in the world, it was nice. And being so old, it surely had a history.

Samantha investigated the history of her home. For the most part, she didn't have any luck. Then, suddenly, she found an archived newspaper article that made her blood run cold.

In the 1950s, the Emerson family lived in the home. They had a 9-year-old daughter named Esmeralda. Charles and Ruth Emerson were arrested and sentenced to life in prison for murdering their daughter. The girl was locked up and died in the closet in Emily's room. The girl's favorite food, according to the old Dobbs Press news story, was chocolate chip cookies.

The End.
