Fireworks Stand
Fireworks Stand

Over the weekend, we did some way early (or late) Spring cleaning. We were outside for a couple of hours burning boxes and other paper waste. We were drenched in sweat, but we got our work done. We also took some clothing to a thrift store. We help out when we can, and everything we donate is top-of-the-line stuff, usually clothing.

My friend opened a new fireworks stand (picture), running it out of a shipping container. The family has been very busy lately, so they won't have much time to operate it this year. I hope they don't get too hot in this Texas heat.

We went to the oncologist on Monday. My wife won't be taking chemo for now. She'll have testing and bloodwork done every three months. We hope all shall be well. Whatever God wants to do, I suppose. You couldn't hear yourself think in the lobby. There were two old women in there chatting, and they didn't care much about using their "inside voice."

We stopped by Walmart and then made our way home. I talked to an interesting fellow at the Subway in Walmart. He had just ordered my favorite sandwich. He was quite talkative, and I appreciated that for some reason. I guess he was around my age, or perhaps a little older.

As of now, we're sitting here without any internet. There is an outage that they estimate will last from now to 8:30 p.m. It's now almost 5. You don't know how much you depend on the net until it's off.

I'm constantly catching up on blog content. Soon, I anticipate that I will have enough content to last until January of 2026. I have so much to do around here that it's hard to find time to blog. I need to mow the yard (bad). It's just been so hot, I can't get motivated to do it.

I recently signed up to receive a daily (Bible) devotional. Since I evidently no longer have the discipline to force myself to study, I'll expose myself to the Word via email. I hope I can stick with it. I know that my lazy rear needs to be in a church somewhere, but I'm still skittish about putting myself out there. In my past experiences, I've learned that people can pretend to be friendly and a Christian, but they'll turn on you the first chance they get. I remain open to all possibilities.

I got packages in the mail today! Well, from UPS. They hold Star Wars action figures. In the future, as always, I will post them here on the blog.
