"I wish I had more information to give you, and I'll keep looking for sure. Later, the house burned. It was never purchased, for obvious reasons. But at least now, certainly so, you have realized that the place was just bad news. I mean, it's an area where bad things have always happened. Even if someone decided to blame you, it's BS, babe. There's no way that a 7-8-year-old girl could have anything to do with your brother's disappearance. And the police agree. Things like that have been going on for decades."

"That's damn near overwhelming," said Izzy as she washed a bite of pizza down with her ale. "Thanks for letting me know."

"A benefit of having of having a boyfriend who's a history teacher, I suppose," said Chris.

"Truth," said Izzy. "When all that happened, I was too young to think about the history of that place. Then it got worse. For years, I was Dizzy Izzy. Before I went to college, I didn't know the difference between a gerund and a participle."

"Well, now you know. So, you don't need to be freaked out by building 3820. The land just has a weird history. Nothing to worry about at all." Ethan draped his muscular arm over Izzy's shoulder. "Nothing to worry about, and now you've got me to protect you."

"And me too," said Christian. "If you ever need me, I'll be right there."

Izzy laid her head on Ethan's shoulder. "Thank you," she said to Ethan. "And thank you too, Chris. Now let's finish eating. And let's have some more of that DC Ale!"
