The Disappearance of Amelia Anne Foster, Part 7

That night Sir Christian Maximus came to her. They spoke at length, and he went into great detail about things that the Emissary had revealed to her. That very night they became husband and wife.

Maximus ordered the Emissary to plan a honeymoon that could be accomplished in safety. They traveled around the southern continent, spending most of their time in Mesoamerica. The Emissary and other household servants took great care to provide for and protect the newlyweds.

They eventually returned to the Williams estate, and they began searching for a home. Finally, Maximus had one built. They were never discovered, as most people thought that Sir Maximus had returned to Europe.

Amelia Anne Maximus (nee Foster) was especially fearful that someone might recognize her, as she had been a local girl. Almost immediately upon their return, she heard news that she had been reported missing. She spent the next few weeks in a state of worry, afraid that some overzealous individual might discover her (as well as her husband).

One day the Emissary brought her a local newspaper, which she read with joy. Her disappearance was being called a "cold case," and efforts to locate her had ceased. That night, for the first time since she had returned home, she slept peacefully.
