Praying Mantis
Praying Mantis - Author's Picture

My wife went out to take the hummingbird feeders down to wash them. She came back in frantically and told me that a "walking stick" (stick bug) was on the feeder. I went out to knock it down (I don't kill things unless they try to kill me) and discovered a praying mantis. The mantis is an interesting insect.

For last evening's dinner I prepared steaks, hot link sausages, macaroni and cheese, and we had cabbage again. The family seems to like it when I make cabbage and spinach. For tonight's dinner I fried ham steaks, made steamed potatoes, and had mac & cheese again.

I went to my primary care doctor today about the sciatica. He wants to do an MRI and said I might have a pinched nerve or a bulging disc. He prescribed Tylenol 3 (I don't like taking codeine), and a couple of other meds. I think one is for cholesterol and the other is for high blood pressure or maybe it's a thyroid medication. I can't remember. He told me not to lift anything. Period.

The doctor's office didn't call my pharmacy with the prescriptions. They said it would be tomorrow (which is today because it just turned midnight a little while ago). We have several errands to run tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I take my wife to the dentist to have a tooth worked on. It has a cap on it that's loose. She's had it since she was about 16 years old. She has trouble eating on that one side.

Texas is supposed to get some much-needed rain this weekend. All the grass is brown and mostly dead - I really don't mind because it just means that I don't have to mow. I guess we'll see.

Last night I finished watching and making notes on the Jeepers Creepers movies. I didn't know that a new one came out in 2022. I will review each one and the information will be blogged in November of 2024.
