As the nosferatu rushed toward me, claws outstretched and canines descending, I quickly stepped aside. I grasped the blessed cedar stake, topped with a certain rare ore, and struck at the thing's heart. I could tell right away that I had struck home.
She paused, a look of...relief, perhaps, on her face. Or maybe it was disbelief. Our records showed that she had been alive for at least 150 years. I wonder still if she had been around long enough to become overconfident. Whatever the case, in that moment I witnessed what was left of her humanity.
She fell into my arms (vampires do not turn to dust) and grasped at the stake with her hands. I gently laid her on the floor. I then made a call to Dr. Parker Addison.
"We're right outside," she said. "Is it done?"
"It is," I answered. "Please let the Director know."
