The third type of haunting is called a "poltergeist." These spirits are active, might communicate, and may be troublesome. They're known for knocking things over, rapping on doors and walls, and sometimes communicating. The fourth kind of haunting is called a "demonic haunting." I don't think anything else needs to be said about that particular kind of haunt.
As I worked my way through Alheid's dream book, I made careful notes about what she had to say about summoning a spirit. I also discovered disappointing information, and I began to have some strange experiences. First, I could not speak to my father's spirit, for you were required to have on hand a bit of earth - dirt - from the grave of the one you desired to speak with. Father was lost at sea and lost to me forever.
Mother, on the other hand, was a different story. She was buried in the gardens behind the house. I went out there late one evening and retrieved a bit of earth. It was sitting on my desk.
When I began to gather a few other items (cedar, a specific incense, and other items that I won't bore you with), I began to have those experiences I mentioned. First, whenever I would begin to read, I would get chill bumps. Not all over: Just on my right shoulder. It was like someone was looking over my shoulder, reading. Sometimes the presence would follow me from room to room, and sometimes not. In general, however, the activity was centered around my book.
After several weeks, I had gathered every item that Alheid had deemed necessary to conjure up a spirit. I determined that I was ready, and I began trying to decide what room I would use to call up my mother's spirit. As I sat pondering, I grew icy cold. The presence was with me. It was so strong that I got up quickly to leave the room.
Just then, I heard a voice. It was not audible, but it came to me in my thoughts. A voice. The voice said, "Hola! Nena...wait. Wait and read."
