The Vision, Part 4

The Vision
The Vision

The next day the beautiful woman next to us did not appear. I decided to pay a visit to the building. The door was not locked. I opened it and stepped inside, and I found that it was indeed empty. It seemed that no one had been there for a long time.

Later on, as our military attachment conducted their exercises, I was able to do some research on the building. Building 359 was indeed unoccupied. Not only this, but it had been mostly empty since 1967 (the year I was born) and it too was scheduled for demolition the next year.

I never discovered, with any amount of certainty, the identity of the beauty who stood on the shrouded balcony. She enjoyed her cup of coffee and then disappeared, leaving no trace of her presence. Well, no trace except for the mark she left upon me. My heart still beats faster whenever I remember the beauty in the "morn time" mist.

Again, I don't know her identity with certainty. I did, however, investigate some more and I found a picture of a female unit that had resided in that building in 1943. Their company commander, Captain Kathryn Glasson, was the mirror image of the woman I saw.

I don't believe in the supernatural. I believe in calculations and engineering. But I admit that I am still shaken by what I discovered. I think the beautiful woman finished her coffee and stepped back into eternity. I know how it sounds, but that's the only conclusion I can draw.

The End
