| The Village Idiot |
On the same day, one hour before dark, the villagers heard a commotion. Four bandits sprinted toward the eastern woods, where one of their comrades had fallen. It was quickly determined that he was dispatched by an arrow.
As the brigands examined their party member, another arrow flew from the tree line, and another bandit fell. Then three more flew, in rapid succession, almost too quickly for words to describe. Five ruffians lay unmoving on the ground. There was only one left, the chief bandit. He rushed toward the place where his men fell.
"Aha!" He was heard to shout. He produced a wicked blade and advanced toward some unseen enemy.
Suddenly, something exploded directly in front of the man. Smoke of some sort filled the air. The bandit captain was seen backing up. The smoke surrounded him, and he screamed. And then he fell.
