Whitey, Part 1

White River Monster
Whitey

My name is Wilson James, and I am 24 years old. I am a student at the Dobbs Institute in Dobbs City, Texas. I am writing this account for extra credit and at the request of Dr. Robert Williamson, the director of the Dobbs Institute. I am currently a sophomore at the school.

My friend Jack Hayes and I went fishing just north of the town of April Fields, on the White River. We unloaded our boat at the White River bridge. The boat was mine but the truck we used belonged to Jack. After we got everything ready, Jack's girlfriend drove the truck and boat trailer to his house.

We were ready for a three-day trip. We were completely prepared to cook, assuming we caught some fish, and if we didn't, we were still prepared. We had enough aftermarket MRE entrees to last several days, potatoes, and other sundries. The packaged food included everything from spaghetti to beef stew. Honestly, these meals sounded just as good or maybe better than the fish we hoped to catch.

Our first day on the river didn't yield much. We had a lot of bites, but we didn't manage to catch a single fish. We decided to continue west along the river and, eventually, we arrived at the point where the river meets the Willow Bayou.
