The wife was released from the ICU yesterday. She had emergency surgery to correct a problem caused by an improperly healed colon. She is taking potassium and magnesium and will start an IV-administered nutritional supplement at some point. She is receiving insulin. Currently, she has a temporary colostomy bag. When she is healed, the doctors will remove it and reconnect the colon. Man, that first "night" was killer. I was up for almost 32 hours and slept on a couch in her room. Now we have a regular room, which is somewhat more comfortable for me, but still an unpleasant experience for her. I am currently at home, having arrived here about three hours ago. I had to come and collect my medication and our clothes. Tomorrow, I have some household errands to perform, and then I'll head back to the Dallas area to the hospital.
