Case 238 - The Tenant
The following tale comes from the reporting of the Dobbs City Times and the firsthand account of Dobbs student Abigail "Abby" Goodwin.
Abby Goodwin graduated high school and spent the summer working at a local retailer. The next year she relocated from Shelby, Oklahoma, to Dobbs City, Texas, to attend school at the Dobbs Institute. She is currently a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor of Science.
When Abby arrived in town to visit Abigail Davis, our registrar, she was undecided about where she would live. She was interested in the dorms (free for our student body) but also sought other options. She bought a local paper listing several apartments and homes she could rent. Being a student who would have limited finances, she looked for something affordable. This, and she knew she would need her parents' assistance to pay the rent. She didn't want to be too much of a burden on her family.
As it happened, Abby found several studio apartments and one duplex. She visited them all, and then finally met with the landlord of the duplex. He showed her the house, and she was pleased. The price was manageable, and the house was situated just off College Street, one of the roads on which our campus is located. The home itself was not remarkable - it was simply a home that had been divided and turned into two apartments.
