| 5 Facts About North Korea |
This list is non-comprehensive, as many of us would find more facts to dwell on. Here is a list of some of the common strange facts:
- There used to be only one pizza parlor in North Korea. It was founded on the orders of General Kim Jong Il because he loved Italian food, and only the elite (upper class) and foreign tourists could dine there. Now, other places serve pizza and Italian food as well.
- Since modern North Korea was founded, it has been ruled by the Kim family.
- North Korea follows a "three-generation punishment" rule. Basically, if someone gets in trouble, their entire family suffers.
- North Korea is not, strictly, a communist regime. It functions more as a monarchy. Its ideology is called "Juche." This translates as (roughly) "self-reliance."
- North Koreans have to get government approved haircuts. Women may choose from one of 18 styles, while men have access to 10 styles.
