The Big Screen TV, Part 7

The Big Screen TV
The Big Screen TV

Alma explained to me that my problem had not been the TV or the chair. She had discovered, she said, that Eugene Washburn was particularly attached to the remote control that he used every night to change the channels on his television.

Michael and Alma asked me if I would give them permission to take the old remote into their custody. Apparently, the basement of their home had been converted into something like a "museum" of paranormal items. I agreed, naturally, and the couple departed after we had exchanged phone numbers.

My experience taught me that practically anything can be "haunted." I had assumed that my use of the rocking chair had provoked Eugene's ire. If not that, then certainly he was upset over my use of his large TV. But even that was not the source of my troubled home life. No, Eugene was incensed because he had lost the ability to use his remote control. Fortunately, once Michael and Alma Johnson removed the old remote and gave me a new one, I never again had any problems with Eugene Washburn.
