The Return, Part 2

The Return
The Return

Dr. Weathers, previously a gentleman and eager to accept any invitations to social functions, began to withdraw from society. He still continued his work. He still saved animals. But there was something different, darker, about the man. He seemed to be "going through the motions" when it came to his trade. It was as though he didn't care one way or the other about his patients. If they lived, fine. If they did not, that was fine too. Such behavior was not a characteristic of the man, at least not until his accident.

Doctor Weathers, no longer the strong and caring man he once was, lived for about six months after he had accidentally injected himself with "cattle medicine." He passed away in the hospital after collapsing in his office. His two daughters and other family members were at his bedside.

There was a family visitation night at Dobbs County Funeral Home. The next day, there was a luncheon, after which the doctor and gentleman was laid to rest in the Resurrection Cemetery. This is not the Resurrection Cemetery that lies within Dobbs City. Rather, it's another cemetery located on State Highway 73 in Dobbs County. Both burial grounds, at the time, had the same name. Today, the graveyard in the city itself is called the Dobbs County Cemetery, and it is maintained by the non-denominational Dobbs City Redeemer Church.
