Emily Pearson, Part 2
As Emily zipped her backpack, she thought she heard a voice coming from one of the stock buildings where livestock were shown when the fair came to town. The building itself was not much more than a pole barn. It had a sheet metal roof and just a couple of sheets of tin attached horizontally as "walls."
"Help...me...," called a woman's voice. The tone was captivating and mesmerizing. "Help," it said again. Emily forgot about her backpack and turned her attention to the barn. She walked to the entrance of the building, observing that it was already dark inside.
"Here, child, quickly," said the soft voice. It seemed obvious to the girl that someone inside needed help. Emily went inside the stock barn. There seemed to be no one inside.
