The Fall of The Sun Tribe
"Go and get the Lieutenant," the Captain said to the guard. "We're soon moving against the Sun Tribe. This man," he pointed at High-Sun, "will lead the way to their city."
Seventeen days later, the Spanish forces moved and besieged the capital city of the Sun Tribe. The city mounted a fierce resistance, but nothing could withstand the Spanish onslaught. The enemy was mowed down by gunfire. Its buildings were demolished by cannon fire. In less than a day, the city was taken.
The Captain was led to the top of the city's temple. There he found, cowered, the tribe's nobility, and its priesthood. He saw firsthand the remains of innocents who had been sacrificed to their pagan deity.
The Captain was a rough man who was used to the death and destruction of war, but the Sun Tribe's murders bothered him. He turned to his Lieutenant. He pointed at the Sun Tribe's priests and leaders.
"Kill them all. Kill them all and tear this place down. Raze it to the ground. Leave no trace of it, only empty ground. Not one stone upon another."
