Izzy, 2025, The Dedication, Part 11
"Excellent," said the director. "Again, Elizabeth is our English instructor. The gentleman you see with her is Dr. Ethan Thomas, who wears many hats around our campus. Elizabeth does too. In addition to teaching, as I have already stated, she is a well-known dorm mom and is a counselor for our students. She's very popular and a capable teacher. Sorry, Elizabeth, now I'll leave you alone soon, but first I need you to come up here onto the dais." The director laughed, as did a number of attendees.
As Elizabeth began to make her way forward, the director announced, "I'm very happy to announce that instructor Elizabeth Kent will receive the first classroom here in Building 3820." The crowd applauded again and continued to do so until she arrived and took a place near the director.
"Now," said the director, "I invite the head of our campus security, Dr. Hannah Wilson, to come forward. In fact, I'd like all members of the staff who were able to be present to come up here and stand on either side of me. Ethan, you come up here, too." The director nodded to his left and right. To his left was strung a ceremonial ribbon.
Dr. Wilson followed Elizabeth to the stage. Additionally, Drs. Priyanka Bhat, Miriam Shackleford, Parker Addison, and Verity Leeds came forward to stand on the raised platform. Ethan Thomas also came forward, and once again took a position at Izzy's side.
"Thank you, ladies and one gentleman, for coming up," said Williamson. "From left to right, we have Dr. Priyanka Bhat, the Institute's curator; Miriam Shackleford, who oversees our veterinary program; Dr. Parker Addison, who teaches future teachers; and Dr. Verity Leeds, who directs our agricultural program. You've already met Elizabeth and Ethan, who are, respectively, our English and history teachers." The crowd clapped for the introduction of the teachers, and then all eyes went back to the Institute's director.
