Izzy, 2025, The Dedication, Part 12
"Ok," said Williamson, "let's bring this dedication to a conclusion." He reached into the shelved podium before him and produced a pair of oversized golden scissors.
"Director Williamson," a voice called out. "Can you hold those scissors up? We need the picture." The speaker was Mary Taylor, a reporter and columnist from the Dobbs City Herald. Her cameraman, Jim Duncan, was also there, as well as photographer Chris Lane.
Dr. Williamson complied, stepping from behind the podium. After several pictures were taken, he turned to point at Dr. Wilson. "Dr. Wilson, please cut this ribbon and set us in motion." Dr. Wilson came forward, took the scissors, and then cut the ribbon. It was red, and "3820" was stenciled across it in several places.
The newspaper's photographer snapped pictures, the camera filmed, and the crowd erupted into applause as soon as Hannah Wilson cut the ceremonial ribbon.
"Thank you, Dr. Wilson," said the director. "I have one final announcement to make. We'd like anyone and everyone to come to our luncheon, which is probably already set up and ready to go. We're celebrating this special occasion. We're catered by DC Tex-Mex, Pat's Pizzeria, and The Burger Shed. There'll be something for everyone, so to speak. My thanks to them, and thank you all for coming out today. Oh, we're having the luncheon in the cafeteria located in Building #1, on the west side of the school. Most of you know where it is, but if not, don't worry; you can't miss it."
