The Disappearance of Amelia Anne Foster, Part 2

Annoyed, she retreated to the bed and sat upon it. She looked around. Her cell phone was nowhere to be seen. Her purse was gone. Where was she? She then recalled portions of the previous night. She had been at some social event. Yes, at the Williams' mansion: Forest Hill. She had attended the function alone and had met a gentleman she had not met before.

Christian Maximus. Sir Christian Maximus. The pert girls had whispered the title almost reverently and giggled amongst themselves. This ceased, however, when the attractive guest made his way across the room to Amelia, where he bowed and said to her something that the other girls could not hear, though they did attempt to eavesdrop.

They had danced. Their gazes were fixed one upon the other, almost as though the occupants of the crowded ballroom did not exist. When the music ended and the next song was played, they danced again, and this continued throughout the night.

Eventually, the couple found their way outside. His conversation was charming, his gaze hypnotic. Did he kiss her? She thought he had, but she couldn't remember.
