In just a few moments Amelia heard the jingle of keys at the door. It opened, and a well-dressed man entered the room. The door could be heard locking behind him.
"Who are you and why am I here?" demanded Amelia. "And why am I locked in a room?"
"My name is not important at the moment. I am called the Emissary," the man said, "and I am the attendant of the affairs of Sir Christian Maximus, whom you have met. I am pleased to see that you are awake. To answer your question, you are in this room for your safety. And you have been here for 14 days."
"That's not possible," said Amelia. "I was here last night at the invitation of Donald Williams. Where is Sir Christian? Why do I speak to his representative?"
