When I got in the car, another of my friends, Santos, asked, "Isn't Ray coming with us?"
"No, Ray left work about an hour ago."
"Okay...but who followed you out of the house? Someone did. We all saw the guy."
Of course, no one followed me out of the house. No one was there at that time, except for me. I was quite unnerved, but I blew it off, and it didn't really scare me.
That changed the next night. I woke up around 3 a.m. as usual, and a man was standing at the end of my bed. At least I think it was a man. In the glow of my nightlight, he appeared to be black - blacker than black - and he seemed to be in a suit, wearing a hat. I later learned that this figure is known throughout the world of the paranormal as "the hat man" or a "shadow person."
