What purpose did the doctor have in reappearing on the day of his burial? It soon became apparent. He was first seen by rancher Carl Brown, who observed Weathers leaving his barn. When Brown investigated, he discovered a dead horse within the barn. It was the same horse that Dr. Weathers was assisting when he was accidentally poisoned by his own syringe. Within two weeks, Brown himself died, a victim of "apoplexy."
Within a week, the community visited Resurrection Cemetery. They brought digging tools and smoothed the doctor's grave. They then poured a concrete slab over it and hoped that it might discourage Weathers from making another foray into the land of the living. It seemed to work, for no one has ever seen Abraham Weathers again.
