The Reanimation of Agatha Gill, Part 4, Bart and the Gang

Bart and the Gang

Bart and The Gang

Bartholomew (Bart) Upton and three other boys liked to explore the woods. Unfortunately, the forests around their homes were located on private property. The four friends did not allow this fact to cancel their exploits. They didn't mind intruding onto private property - they were just careful not to get caught.

On one particular day, the boys found themselves near a large pollarded elm tree. Like several trees in the area, the tree was well-kept by the property owner. The boys "chilled out" (or so they called it) around the base of the tree. They were preparing to head toward home when Chuck, one of their number, noticed a length of black material hanging from the top of the tree. This discovery was minor, compared to what happened next. When Bart climbed to the top of the tree, he discovered none other than the pale corpse of Emily Pearson. It was hidden, apparently hastily, in the tree.

The boys fled the area and swore amongst themselves never to tell anyone of their discovery. They were afraid of the punishment they might face for trespassing on private land. Bart, however, felt that he could not keep such a secret. That same night, he told his parents what the gang had discovered. The parents then called the authorities, and the sheriff became involved.
