Elisabeth's Loss, Part 3
After her divorce from Allan, Elisabeth, who had been a stay-at-home mom, found herself unable to support herself in the manner to which she and her children had been accustomed. Instead of pursuing Allan in the courts, she attempted to better herself, so she did not stay unemployed for long.
Over the years, Elisabeth had attended classes part-time and completed the 180 hours needed to get her Texas real estate license. She then found employment at a Dobbs City real estate business, Dobbs City Realtors. In less than a year, she became a top associate and was even "the agent of the year" for a couple of years. Her need for Allan's financial support evaporated, and soon after this, the man practically disappeared. He didn't even contact his children on their birthdays or at Christmas. It was like they didn't have a dad, which was not far from the truth.
Elisabeth's career might have continued successfully for years, but certain events occurred that had a profound effect on her. She was not just a person who displayed houses or real estate. She typically went "the extra mile" in showing off the properties to which she'd been assigned. She was a person who showed great attention to detail and was something of a perfectionist. These features showed themselves in her work.
Dobbs City Realtors employed the services of a house cleaning agency. They did their job efficiently in every case. Elisabeth, however, went above and beyond the call of duty. Even if the homes were spotless, she'd often visit beforehand to inspect the houses for cleanliness. If they did not meet her high standard, she'd clean them herself. It was not uncommon to find her with a mop and a broom. If she felt something was not as it should be, she'd take care of it on her own.
