Izzy: The Teen Years, Part 9
These arguments (about practically nothing) led to their first breakup. Thus began a pattern of dating and then breaking up. This continued through their graduation dates. After high school, they, for a time, went their separate ways.
Izzy decided to pursue work instead of college, but soon changed her mind. She got a job as a receptionist at the Dobbs County Courthouse and took classes part-time at the Dobbs Institute. Eventually, she had the finances to get her own apartment in Dobbs City. It was around that time that she and Ethan began dating again. They had never lost touch, even though Ethan had moved to Brookston County.
Ethan, the tough football player who few thought would succeed in life, eventually finished a doctorate at Brookston County College. After some discussion with Izzy, he got a job as a Texas history teacher at Dobbs Institute, and he moved into a duplex just across the avenue from the DC Fairground, the same place where he and Izzy went on their first date.
Izzy later finished her master's degree in education and was hired by the institute as their English teacher. Her relative youth also opened the door for her to become an effective counselor for the institute's female students. She was close to her students' ages, and they were more prone to engage with her.
Izzy kept her apartment in Dobbs City. She and Ethan discussed the possibility of cementing their relationship by moving in together. She spent more time at his place than she did at her own, but they hadn't yet taken that step.
